Champions start small but always compete with heart. In grade 6, at 4’10” tall, Jennifer made the Georgian Bay Vista Volleyball Club Team on athleticism and competitiveness. This team was the launching pad to an exceptional volleyball career.
Always viewed by her coaches as a talented and supportive team member, her presence elevated her teammates’ play and confidence. In beach volleyball, Jennifer was an 11-time OVA Gold Medal Champion and in 2002, an OVA Provincial Champion for 16-and-under and made the Team Canada Select 17-and-under to compete in California.
For indoor volleyball, Jennifer made the Team Ontario Select Group twice to represent Ontario at the Canadian Championships. Further OVA accomplishments include the Award of Merit, the Gold Medal at the East Coast Volleyball Championships for 18-and-under and the Indoor Tier 2 Provincial Championships, 16-and-under, all in 2002.
Another successful year was in 2004 with Jennifer as Provincial Champion for 18-and-under, Provincial Champion for 20-and-under, culminating with a Canadian National Championship for 20-and-under, all with the Waterloo Tigers Volleyball Club.
In 2005, Jennifer’s serving accuracy and excellent defensive skills led her University of Western Ontario Team to the OUA Gold Medal all while being named Player of the Game. Her team placed fourth in the CIAU Championship and Jennifer’s work ethic brought an accolade as Academic
All Canadian.
No athlete competes at such a high level without the support and dedication of parents and coaches. Jennifer is extremely grateful for those opportunities and has done her best to be a role model for her teammates on and off the court. Her competitive spirit, drive and love of sports has carried over into her personal life and professional career. Jennifer’s passion for health and wellness has led her to work in health promotion and disease prevention as a Public Health Nurse.
